DEPARTURES AND PRICES

THE PRICE
The price includes:
- 2 nights in a 3* hotel on B&B basis in Chamonix (twin/double bedroom);
- 1 night in a 3* hotel on half-bord basis in Argentière (twin/double bedroom);
- A road book: description and IGN maps (1 road book per registration, additional road book supplied for groups of more than 4 people. Supplementary road book 10-25€);
- Baggage transport between accommodation;
- Organisation and booking fees;
- Tourist taxes.
The price does not include:
- Picnic lunches;
- Dinners in Chamonix;
- Personal expenses, drinks, touristic visits, etc.;
- The lifts and train (approx 80€ per person);
- Travel to and from your home;
- Guiding: your are responsible for your own safety;
- Cancellation insurance (4.2% of total tour cost).
The price is all inclusive from departure to end point.

Departure from your hotel in the centre of Chamonix.
SIGNAL FORBES - LA MER DE GLACE
Take the Aiguille du Midi cable car to the mid station Plan de l'Aiguille and hike along a balcony trail through the alpine pastures of la Blaitière to the Forbes signal (2200m). Descend along the the Mer de Glace facing the Aiguille des Drus and the Grandes Jorasses. Descend to Chamonix on foot or on the Montenvers train. Overnight in Chamonix.
2.5 hour walk / Elevation: +200m -500m (-900m extra if descending to Chamonix on foot)
LAC CORNU
Take the Planpraz telecabine and walk to Lac Cornu (2250m). Panoramic view of the entire Mont Blanc range, the Aravis and Faucigny mountains. Descend to Chamonix by the Flégère telecabine or on foot. Overnight in Chamonix.
4.5 hour walk / Elevation: +500m -650m (-1000m extra if descending to Chamonix on foot)
THE LAC BLANC
Cross Chamonix and ascend with the cable car to Flégère. Facing the Mont Blanc range, balcony trail to reach the Lac Blanc. The path continues on to the Chéserys lakes, passes at the foot of the Aiguilles Rouges mountains and then descend to Col des Montets. Incredible views over the Mont Blanc range from this balcony day. Night in a hotel in Argentière.
5 hour walk / Elevation: +500m -1100m
AIGUILLETTE DES POSETTES
From the gîte hike to the Col de Balme and the Aiguillette des Posettes. Panoramic view of the Mont Blanc and the glaciers of Le Tour and Argentière. Descend through the alpine pastures to Montroc-Le Tour. Return by train or bus to Chamonix.
5.5 hour walk / Elevation: +750m -750m
End point during the afternoon at Montroc-le-Planet.
The itinerary is established according to the latest information available, the possibility of unknown factors affecting this itinerary is possible including situations beyond our control which may change the route, timings etc.
Le voyage
LEVEL **
Elevation: +/- 400m to 950m approximately per day.
Walking time: 4.5 to 6 hours approximately per day.
Type of trek: this tour is not technically difficult and is open to children from 10 years old.
You will need a good fitness level and must have a good health for this trek. A physical preparation will help you to enjoy your stay: please regularly practice a cardio sport such as hiking, running, biking, swimming.

The roadbook provides sufficient information on the itinerary of your hike. However, it is essential to be able to read an IGN 1:25,000 map and to be sufficiently autonomous in the mountains to be able to tackle the itinerary with confidence, whatever the weather (fog, snow, etc.). Guiding is not included in the self-guided package.
You will be crossing areas with no telephone network. For your own safety, you may wish to bring along a radio or the latest generation telephone with a satellite connection.
ROAD BOOK
Before departure, we send you a travel folder containing:
- 1 IGN map 3630OT Chamonix-Mont-Blanc
- 1 road-book containing all the information necessary for the trek.
- 1 waterproof map holder.
- Accommodation list.
SIGNPOSTS AND WAYMARKS ALONG THE TREK
The tour of Mont Blanc is a trek which is very well indicated:
In France: marked with red and white stripes for Grande Randonnée (in both directions).

With baggage transport: your baggage is transported daily to your accommodation by our logistics vehicle.

COMFORT: 3* Hotel
Day 1 and 2 - night in 3* Hotel on B&B basis in Chamonix (twin/double bedroom).
Day 3 - night in 3* Hotel on half-board basis in Argentière (twin/double bedroom).
MEALS
Breakfast is included and provided in each accommodation, as well as dinner on night 3.
Dinners are not included on nights 1 and 2 and can be booked in one of the many restaurants in Chamonix.
Picnics are not included and can be pre-ordered at each accomodation in the evening.
Please inform us about your food allergies and special diets at the time of booking.
Accommodations do our best to accommodate special diets (gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.). However, we encourage you to bring some additional products for your own picnics.

ACCESS TO DEPARTURE POINT
Meeting point at your hotel in Chamonix.
BY TRAIN / BUS
Inbound: departure from Paris-Gare de Lyon the day before at 12:18pm (or 2:18pm), arrival in Chamonix at 7:10pm (8:10pm)
Return : departure from Les Houches at 3:21pm (or 5:21pm), arrival at Paris-Gare de Lyon at 9:42pm (11:42pm).
Times given are indicative and should be verified in a train station or on www.oui.sncf
There are regular buses throughout the whole Chamonix valley - with an hourly bus service between Les Houches and Montroc-le-Planet.

BY CAR
Take the A40 motorway to Chamonix, follow the main road towards Argentière and Switzerland to Le Tour (1km after Argentière) or exit at Les Houches, Bellevue/Prarion.
There is ample free parking near the meeting point in the village of Le Tour (15 minute-walk).

The repatriation insurance EUROP ASSISTANCE that we offer is dedicated to French speaking people living in Europe. If it is not your case, we advise you to subscribe to another travel insurance which will cover you in case of injury and repatriation during your trek.
If you chose to take out repatriation insurance with EUROP ASSISTANCE whom we propose, Altitude Mont Blanc will only serve as an intermediary between the client and the insurer. We cannot influence either party. We adhere to strict conditions of sale. You are responsible for compliance with the reporting procedures of any incident.

BACKPACK
Bring a comfortable backpack of 30 to 40 litres for your personal belongings for the day (warm clothes, waterproofs, water, plate and cutlery for your picnic, sunscreen and your identity papers) and please keep a little room to carry a picnic and snacks.
BAGGAGE TRANSPORT
You are allowed 1 soft, sports type bag, with all your possessions inside, of 10kg maximum per person. Your baggage will be transported daily between accommodation by our logistics vehicle.
Baggage which is too heavy won't be accepted by the drivers, please think of their backs!
If you wish to prolong your holiday, we can safely hold another bag for you which you may leave with us at the departure point and it will be deposited at the end point with your other baggage.
